Getting Started
Bangla.today lets you type Bengali using English letters (phonetic typing). Just type how the word sounds!
Keyboard Shortcuts
| TAB or Enter | Select suggestion from autocomplete |
| Space | Select suggestion (when "Space as Enter" is enabled) |
| Arrow Up/Down | Navigate through suggestions |
| ESC | Close autocomplete menu |
| . (period) | Inserts দাঁড়ি (।) |
| 0-9 | Converts to Bengali numerals (০-৯) |
Settings
Space as Enter
When enabled, pressing the space bar will select the first autocomplete suggestion, making typing faster.
No Suggest
Disables the autocomplete popup. Useful when you want to type English text without suggestions.
Smart Learning
Bangla.today learns your preferences! When you select a specific suggestion from the list, it remembers your choice.
Next time you type the same word, your preferred option will appear first with a green highlight.
Your preferences are saved automatically and persist across sessions.
Compound Letters (যুক্তাক্ষর)
Use the compound letters panel on the right to quickly insert common conjunct consonants like:
Unicode ⇄ Bijoy Converter
Click the "Unicode ⇄ Bijoy" button to convert text between Unicode and Bijoy encoding.
- Unicode: Modern Bengali text (used on web, social media)
- Bijoy: Legacy encoding (used in older documents, print media)
Multiple Documents
Work with multiple documents using tabs:
- Click + to create a new document
- Click a tab to switch between documents
- Double-click a tab name to rename it
- Click × to close a tab
All your documents are saved automatically to your browser.
